What you'll learn

Singing is athletic, and the voice is the only instrument you cannot see. Lessons pair breath and posture work with repertoire, so technique never becomes an abstract exercise. We build range carefully, because pushing a voice too fast is how singers get hurt.

Beginner

Breath and pitch

  • Diaphragmatic breathing and posture that supports tone
  • Matching pitch reliably and hearing your own intonation
  • Vowel shaping and clean consonants
  • Warm-ups you can safely do on your own
  • First solo song performed all the way through

Intermediate

Range and register

  • Navigating the passaggio between chest and head voice
  • Sustainable belt technique for musical theater and pop
  • Dynamic control, vibrato, and phrase shaping
  • Sight singing and holding a harmony line
  • Building a two or three song audition book

Advanced

Artistry and audition-ready work

  • Stylistic detail across theater, jazz, pop, and classical rep
  • Diction in Italian, German, and French art song
  • Microphone technique and studio recording habits
  • Acting the lyric, not just singing the notes
  • College audition and cabaret or recital program prep

Who voice lessons are for

We start most singers around age eight, once a student can follow breath instructions and sustain a phrase. Younger children are often better served by a piano or general music start, and we will tell you if that is the case.

Teen theater kids, worship team singers, wedding soloists, and adults who have only ever sung in the car all study here. Nobody is auditioned in to begin.

  • Ages 8 through adult, all styles welcome
  • Musical theater students preparing audition books
  • Worship and choir singers who need stamina and blend
  • Songwriters who want their own vocals to hold up
  • Adults rebuilding a voice after years of not singing

Lesson format and tuition

Voice lessons are private and weekly, held in a studio with a piano so your teacher can accompany you. Bring water, and expect to record parts of the lesson on your phone so your practice matches what your teacher heard.

30 minutes

Best for younger beginners and anyone building a first practice habit. Enough time for warm-ups, one concept, and a piece.

45 minutes

Our most popular length. Room for technique, theory, repertoire, and a few minutes to work through whatever came up during the week.

60 minutes

For advancing students, audition and recital prep, and adults who want to go deep in a single sitting.

Lessons are weekly, one-on-one, and scheduled at the same time each week. For current tuition rates and open times, call (386) 256-5847 or send us an enrollment request.

Elite Academy is on South Nova Road in Ormond Beach, an easy drive for singers from Holly Hill, Daytona Beach, and Port Orange. If you are weighing options nearby, our music lessons in Daytona Beach page walks through every program we offer and who each one is built for.
