Do we need a real piano at home, or is a keyboard fine?

A keyboard is fine to start, as long as it has 88 weighted keys and a sustain pedal. Unweighted 61-key boards work for the first few months but slow down finger strength, so most families upgrade within a year.

How much practice does a piano student need?

Beginners do well with 15 to 20 minutes five days a week. Intermediate students usually need 30 to 45 minutes. Short and daily beats long and occasional every single time.

Can my child learn pop songs instead of classical pieces?

Yes. We teach reading and technique through whatever motivates the student, and most lesson plans mix a method book with a song the student picked. Classical repertoire is a tool, not a requirement.

Do you prepare students for piano recitals or auditions?

We hold studio recitals and regularly coach students through school auditions, festival adjudication, and college portfolio pieces. Audition prep usually works best in a 60-minute lesson.

Are adult piano beginners really welcome?

They are, and there are more of them here than most people expect. Adult lessons skip the sticker charts and move at whatever pace your week allows.

What happens if we miss a lesson?

Give us notice and we will do our best to find a makeup slot in the same week. Schedules fill quickly during recital season, so earlier notice means better options.

What you'll learn

Piano is the instrument that teaches you how music is built. Every student follows the same three pillars, technique at the keys, reading and theory, and repertoire you actually want to play, but the pace and the song list are set by the student sitting on the bench.

Who piano lessons are for

We start most children around age five, once they can sit at the bench and follow a two-step direction. Younger siblings often start with a shorter lesson and graduate into a full one when their attention catches up.

Adults are a large and growing part of our piano studio. Some are returning after decades away, some have never touched a key. Nobody is behind, and nobody is graded.

Your instructors

Our piano faculty covers classical technique, theory, and improvisation. Tek Winesberry keeps students for years by tying theory to the music they already love. Cami Wooley teaches piano alongside voice, which makes her a natural fit for singer-pianists. Niki Mousikos tailors each lesson plan to whatever sparks a student's interest.

Lesson format and tuition

Piano lessons are private, weekly, and held at the same time each week on our acoustic uprights. We ask families to have a weighted keyboard or piano at home for practice, and we are happy to advise before you buy.

30 minutes

Best for younger beginners and anyone building a first practice habit. Enough time for warm-ups, one concept, and a piece.

45 minutes

Our most popular length. Room for technique, theory, repertoire, and a few minutes to work through whatever came up during the week.

60 minutes

For advancing students, audition and recital prep, and adults who want to go deep in a single sitting.
