What we teach

Every student works across three tracks: drawing, painting, and mixed media. Skills stack year over year, so a student who starts with contour line in elementary school is building a portfolio by high school. The same studio also hosts our Ormond Beach art program.

Drawing

Line, proportion, value, and perspective, built through observation rather than copying. Students move from contour and gesture into value, proportion, and one-point perspective.

Painting

Color mixing, brush control, and composition across acrylic and watercolor. Younger students work in tempera, older students move into acrylic and watercolor.

Mixed media

Collage, texture, printmaking, and sculpture projects that loosen students up and reward experimentation. Units rotate each term so returning students never repeat a project.

Class formats

Two ways to study with us, and plenty of families use both: a weekly group class for rhythm and community, plus private sessions when a student is chasing something specific.

Weekly group classes

Same day, same time each week, grouped by age band. Students work through a shared unit while the instructor moves seat to seat. Group work also means critique practice, which is where most young artists grow fastest. Call for the current weekly schedule and term length.

Private instruction

One-on-one time built entirely around the student, whether that is portfolio review, a competition entry, or an adult beginner who would rather learn without an audience. Call for available lesson lengths and openings.

Who it's for

Our classes are grouped by age band so a first grader and a high school junior are never handed the same assignment. Beginners are the norm, not the exception, and students who already draw constantly get pushed into harder material instead of repeating what they know.

Adults are genuinely welcome. Plenty of our evening students are parents who always meant to learn to paint, and homeschool families use daytime hours for a full studio block.

  • Ages 5–8, first structured art experience
  • Ages 9–12, technique and sketchbook habits
  • Teens, portfolio, AP studio, and college prep
  • Adults, beginner through returning artist
  • Homeschool families using daytime studio hours
  • Students who want private coaching alongside a group class
